POTW: Vanessa Andres

This week's POTW is a wonderful capture from Vanessa Andres. If I were asked to describe Vanessa's work in one word, it would be "romantic". Her use of short depth of field and slightly washed out colors go perfectly with the types of subjects she pursues. Vanessa's work was recently featured in The Peak as part of the cover feature "Liar Liar Pants on Fire".

This photo was made with:
Camera: Mamiya 645e
Lens: 80mm
Film: Kodak Portra NC400
Shutter speed: 1/500th
Aperture: f/5.6
The equipment used was purchased 2nd-hand for $400, and the photographer has told us that she gets pictures from it that are superior to her $2000 digital setup. It just goes to show that photography is about having a good eye for composition and light, as opposed to the gear-only mindset that all of us seem to get stuck in. Mad props, Vanessa!

Don't forget to leave a comment at the bottom of this post! I'm sure the photographer would appreciate it.

Until next time, happy shooting!
