Photos of the Weeks!

OK so I've neglected to post the POTWs in large format for the first two weeks. So here they are!

This first one is by Jenny Waters, winner of the 2009 Spring Semester Peakie Award! She took this photo with her D90 kit at the Abbot St. Courtyard over her semester break. The lines, patterns, and texture really make the shot pop. Plus works great in black & white!

Made with:
Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6
Focal Length: 21mm
Aperture priority mode: f/3.8
ISO 1000

This second one is by Maia Britt Odegaard, who is also the Peak copy editor. Every single word in the newspaper is read 3 times by Maia to ensure correct grammar and fact checking. She's also an avid photographer! Her shot of the train has the same adventurous qualities in composition as well as subject matter. Good shot, Maia!

Made with:
Camera: Sony DSC-H50
Focal Length: 6.3mm
Aperture: f/4
ISO 100

Also wanted to give a shout-out to the two photo clubs on campus: Viewfinder and UPhoto. It's about time photographers had some clubs on campus! The Peak is a fantastic gateway to networking and potential client opportunities with each assignment. We can get you press passes for big events, opportunities to meet potential future clients, and publicity for your photography! Feel free to give subjects your personal business cards after a shoot. The rights to the photos remain yours, and you get credit in print as well as online. If you know any photographers who would be interested in shooting for The Peak, show them this blog!

We also do photo workshops to help our photographers grow and learn different styles of photography. Our last workshop was the Studio Lighting Workshop, click the link to see a video made by photography Cedric Yu.

See you around!
